Abstract

The study identifies the key objectives of customs expertise of goods transported through maritime checkpoints for maritime states and considers ways to create optimal conditions for such examinations in Ukraine. The author deals with the peculiarities of standardizing the process of examination of medicines and biologically active supplements transported by sea in Ukraine and certain foreign countries. The article also considers the features of introducing the institute of examination of ships contracts and related documents in the field of merchant shipping in Ukraine. Following the outcome of the study of legal aspects of standardizing customs expertise of goods transported by sea, it is established that Ukraine needs to improve the existing legal framework for customs examinations of goods, including those transported by sea, namely, by amending the current Law of Ukraine “On the Customs Tariff of Ukraine” and formulating drafts of certain legislative acts.
